of our postmodern world. Christianity, Islam, Communism/Marxism - all philosophies so full of potential for massive change, and all brimming with the vigor of a people ready to produce
such change. And yet, our world today lacks this effervescence, and while the attainment of important societal achievements has resulted in a collective sigh of relief, so too does
such achievement rob us of our tenacity for change. In other words, while grand narratives have been disposed of by our society, so too have their correlating qualities that
served as inspiration for generations. When one thinks of grand narratives, many important examples come to mind. One such
example by which to understand the group is that of the Communist Manifesto (Sheehan, 1998). Whether one accepts the narrative from an ideological perspective or not, clearly this work
is admirable in its ability to conceptualize history (Sheehan, 1998). This is a narrative of literally epic proportions, full of possibility.
Today, our world is more jaded and more uncertain. We believe grand narratives cannot exist. Or, is it the other way around - that they cease
to exist because we cannot fathom them? This is the postmodernist reality. We have come to believe that we have no story to tell, and amidst the rising
star of capitalism, we have relaxed into a quite contentment believing that the zenith has already been reached. Tired but content from our struggles against inequality and social repression,
