Many people argue that society does not have the right, under any circumstances, to put someone to death for a crime and that criminals are only a product of a
society that does not attend to problems before they become serious. Others argue that particular criminals should be sentenced to death for they are far too much of a threat
to society and their crimes can only be punished righteously through execution. The following paper argues for the death penalty in the case of certain murders and rape.
The Death Penalty: Murderers and Rapists First and foremost it should perhaps be understood that not all murders or rapes may be exactly as they seem. Some murders are committed
out of passion, not premeditated, or otherwise not as serious as others. For example, a woman who has been abused by her husband, in numerous ways, for many years may
ultimately find herself helpless and thus kills her husband for issues of mental as well as physical defense. This is not someone who is really a threat to society for
she only committed murder because of abuse. Or there may be someone who committed murder in self defense, or murdered someone by accident (such as seen in gun accidents or
car accidents). In light of how diverse murder can be deemed in the courts of law it seems important to note that the death penalty should be used on individuals
who are convicted of first degree murder and wherein there is absolutely no doubt they committed the crime. In the case of rape all rapes are horrid and should
be severely punished. But, there are times when someone has been convicted of rape only to be set free at a later date because evidence pointed to some conspiracy or
