of time examining the safety of substances, some believe that the drug should never have been approved. The question is, should RU-486 be legal? In examining the issues, it seems
that the FDA approved it in haste. There are too many potentially dangerous ramifications of prescribing this drug. While pills are usually taken quite mater of factly, mifepristone is not
simply administered (Jones & Henshaw, 2002). Rather, in having an RU486 abortion, there are two drugs that have to be consumed at certain intervals (Jones & Henshaw, 2002). Also, there
is about two to three weeks that will include bleeding and spotting (Jones & Henshaw, 2002). The abortion pill is not a miracle drug. It is a way to introduce
abortion without having to go through a surgical procedure. There are many questions that linger about the drugs safety and effectiveness. Other issues concern the fact that those who
might have had a medical abortion might decide to take the pill instead. That is actually the ideal candidate for the drug. Yet, there are those who might decide on
RU486 for other reasons. Abortion is legal in the United States and some women may not be able to afford one. Such women may find the pill affordable and more
conventional, and less frightening, than having an abortion. While it is argued that poor women can benefit from the drug, one has to wonder if a woman without resources will
have the wherewithal to endure the difficult procedure and appropriately follow the doctors advice. Yet, there are those who are against abortion entirely and feel that the pill will make
