away from legitimate gambling facilities and makes gambling far more accessible to almost anyone. Gambling can be a problem for many people, a very serious problem, and as such it
should remain controlled to some extent. The following paper examines the dangers of internet gambling and argues that it should not be legal, a belief that the government appears to
hold as well. The Dangers of Internet Gambling As noted, many people may assume that simple gambling, and perhaps internet gambling, is harmless and simply serves as a
fun entertaining diversion from life at times. However, the U.S. Congress appears to feel it is dangerous enough to pass a bill that outlaws internet gambling in the United States
(Norton NA). Interestingly enough, however, much of the information on that bill involves how much money it will cost the gaming industry of the internet, an industry that is essentially
making a great deal of money off of individuals in the comfort of their own home: "Investors in online gaming companies folded their cards and pushed back their chairs on
Oct. 2 after the U.S. Congress passed a bill over the weekend that will effectively outlaw Internet gambling in the worlds largest market" (Norton NA). Also as noted, with
places like Las Vegas, the lottery, and many states with Native American reservations where gambling is allowed, there is really no need to add to that and allow anyone and
