can be. They are generally only informed that it is bad for you and if you want to succeed in life you wont do drugs. With that in mind the
following paper offers up a look at how adolescents can be taught the real dangers of drug abuse through a discussion of heroin addiction. Heroin Addiction In terms of
best addressing the educating of adolescents regarding the dangers of heroin it is perhaps necessary to have people speak who are personally quite familiar with the drug and its dangers
through their own addictions. Adolescents do not need to always be told that the drug itself is dangerous and highly addictive and that becoming addicted is a very serious problem.
They need to be told harrowing stories that are real, by a person who knows the dangers and the devastation of heroin abuse. In further approaching lessons from this
angle we first look at one article that presents us with such an individual: "I became a statistic at the age of 20 when I started using heroin, explains Erica,
a beautiful young lady...There is no way to describe the daily misery and agony I went through while addicted to heroin" (The Agony of Heroin Addiction, 2004). Such a person
could, and should, tell the most depressing and real encounters they have had because of their addiction, holding little back and making the frightening experiences very real to young people.
