is someone that others admire and try to emulate; that is, they want to be like the person. The Dalai Lama has admirers around the world, and he is definitely
a role model of the type of person who makes the world a better place. The Dalai Lama made a visit to the U.K. in 2004, and Professor Michael Brown,
Vice-Chancellor of John Moores University in Liverpool said, "The Dalai Lama is a remarkable role model, a true symbol of peace" (Tashi, 2004). The Dalai Lama was in Liverpool to
give a public lecture entitled "Secular ethics," and all the tickets were sold out long before the event; people were put on a waiting list for cancellations (Tashi, 2004). His
lecture was also broadcast live on the Internet, another indication of his tremendous popularity. His talk in Liverpool was only one of a number of speeches he gave at
various "educational institutions and non-governmental organizations" between April 27 and May 3, 2004 (Tashi, 2004). He traveled from Manchester Airport to Liverpool in a motorcade, another indication of his popularity
and the respect and admiration shown him by people all over the world. In addition to his talk on ethics in Liverpool, he gave a speech in London entitled "A
human approach to world peace"; in Glasgow his subject was "Inner peace, outer harmony"; then "from May 30 to June 1, His Holiness will give teachings on Kamashilas Middle Stages
