all these certainly came about at one time or another, crusades were preached from the end of the eleventh century on into the sixteenth century. One has to be cautious
in assigning any sort of result to a movement that covers five hundred years. The Crusades are considered to be the eight
campaigns in the Holy Lands that occurred from 1095CE until 1270 CE. The following four campaigns form this narrative: The Peasants Crusade(1095-1096); The First Crusade (1095-1099) The Second Crusade
(1147-1149); The Third Crusade (1189-1192); and The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204). Crusading activity appears to simply have became a part of European culture, the
idea of making war on the enemies of the Church became part of European thinking. In a sense, the religious wars of the Protestant Reformation are the logical result of
this mentality. Yet by the time Europeans had exhausted themselves in internal religious war, we hear no more about wars against the infidel (http://history.idbsu.edu).
However now that we have become equal opportunity historians, there are some who dispute the thought that the Crusades should be condemned as an attempt to spread Christianity by
force. We are given the impression that a militant Catholic Church went forth to force the gentle Muslim nations to accept Christianity at the point of the sword. There are
some that believe such a suggestion ignores several important historical facts. The first fact we are told to note is that the idea of Holy War was not
