they awaited the arrival of Jesus Christ. The faith of Christianity did not arise until several decades after the birth/death of Jesus Christ and it was not until, at least,
a century had passed from the death of Christ, that the Catholic faith emerged. As such, to write of what the arrival of Christ meant to Catholics is not to
write of what the Catholics thought and felt when Jesus arrived, but how they took the birth and life of Jesus as seen in their particular faith. In other words,
it is impossible to talk about what Jesus arrival meant to Catholics, for there were no Catholics when Jesus arrived. This does not mean that the New Testament does not
speak of those who awaited the arrival of Jesus as a prophecy, but that those who awaited his arrival were not Catholic. With this in mind the following paper examines
what Jesus means to the Catholic Church, and how the Catholic Church sees the arrival, or coming, of Jesus in terms of the world and salvation. The Coming
of Jesus Christ As is commonly known, the Christian faith is founded on the basic belief that Christ is the Son of God and that he came to earth to
offer mankind salvation through faith. He was put to death and rose from the dead. Aside from this the various Christian faiths possess different beliefs and perspectives concerning Jesus Christ.
And, it is important to note that the Catholic Church is realistically the most powerful Christian faith in the history of Christianity, and was, for many centuries, the religion that
