A 5 page overview of the power that comes with the American presidency. The contention is presented that although a president might have the capability of inflicting short-term damage to our system of government and our nation, there are provisions in place to make sure that damage is only short term. Bill Clinton, for example, managed to deleteriously change the world perception of the American Presidency. On a more fortunate note, however, Clinton's term was temporary and the American Presidency lives on even in his absence. In all Clinton did nothing towards changing the institution of the presidency itself. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

The power held by the President of the United States exceeds that of any other world leader. The different men who have held the office, however,
have wielded that power in many different ways. Some were effective in accomplishing their goals and objectives, others were entirely ineffective. Questions about his personal ethics and morals
aside, Bill Clinton most definitely falls into the former category. Unfortunately in the process of wielding his power to accomplish his own goals and objectives, Clinton managed to deleteriously
change the world perception of the American Presidency. On a more fortunate note, however, Clintons term was temporary and the American Presidency lives on even in his absence.
In all Clinton did nothing towards changing the institution of the presidency itself. His administration does, however, introduce some serious questions regarding the mechanisms which are in place to
control an aberrant president. Interestingly, according to the film "The Clinton Years", Clinton managed to leave the White House with one of the
highest rates of public approval allotted any of our modern presidents. Many are left stupefied by this fact given the mans history. His high level of public favor,
however, is undoubtedly connected to his ability to manipulate people and to accomplish his own personal goals and objectives. The power wielded by Bill Clinton while in office is
particularly interesting from the standpoint that although he was technically impeached, he was not removed from office. This status, in effect, allowed him an open hand during his
last days in the presidential seat. Clinton was not reluctant in the least to use that open hand to its full capabilities but fortunately he was able to inflict
