for want of a better term, "star quality" that draws people to him. But was he a good President? This paper attempts to answer the question of what history will
say about the Clinton presidency. In General Bill Clinton left office only six years ago; it is much too soon to attempt to evaluate his presidency and decide where he
fits in with the other 43 men who have held the office. A true judgment of his successes and failures will not be possible for probably 50 years or more.
We must have the perspective of history to help us; even after more time has passed, opinions will change and his presidency will be judged again and again. Also,
perhaps no President has been persecuted the way Clinton was. Almost from the day he took office the Republicans mounted attack after attack on him, and spent millions of taxpayer
dollars on an investigation into his financial dealings that ultimately proved he had done nothing wrong. His sexual appetite proved to be disastrous but there are many scholars who question
if unseemly personal behavior is actually impeachable. In short, many of the problems of his presidency seem to stem from the fact that he spent much of his time fending
off attacks from those who should have been working with him for the benefit of the American people. Discussion When Bill Clinton ran for office, the nation took notice of
the fact that he had an extremely intelligent woman at his side. Hillary was not there just to "stand by her man," she had a mind of her own and
