American Civl War, there were economic changes that were enjoyed by the people at the time, and some lingered and some dissipated. There were changes in terms of agriculture, commodity
output and manufacturing during this time period. To some extent, the war years had stimulated the production of new inventions as well as to have accelerated the growth
of technology that was already a part of the region ("Northern"). There were government contracts that arose and sewing machines also had become a part of the
textile industry ("Northern"). Later, the industrial revolution would be integral to the advance of the sewing machine and a change in the fashion industry. Still, at the time of the
Civil War, the sewing machine was relevant and machine-made parts that could be interchanged entrenched the system of production ("Northern"). It is clear that industry was doing well.
It should also be noted that other "war related industries" like gunpowder and firearms and manufacturing in terms of wagons also grew at a rapid pace due to the slew
of military contracts that would surface ("Northern") . In certain aspects of manufacturing, there was a direct connection to the war. As many have recognized, war can be good for
the economy and it was at the time. Agricultural industries also saw an increase in production, at least in spurts, and this has been "attributable to the war" ("Northern").
For example, Gail Bordens newly created condensed-milk was patented in 1856 ("Northern"). This became a mainstay in the diets of Union soldiers ("Northern"). Additionally, farm tools like the rotary
plow and the thresher did enjoy sales booms because machinery would begin to take over the work that was abandoned by farmers ("Northern"). Some of the farmers had
