While there are some basic similarities between Christianity and Islam, there are also many differences. Both religions have basic tenants
that shape their view of their god and mans relationship with him. These tenants also delineate the expectations these gods have in regard to mans behavior. Christians, of
course, have the Ten Commandments to look to for guidance. Muslims, in turn, have the Five Pillars of Islam. The Christian Ten
Commandments, of course, date back before the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Virgin Mary, in the holy city of Jerusalem. We look, of course,
primarily to the Bible to document Christianity and the Old Testament, the section of the Bible containing the Ten Commandments were written well before Christs birth and subsequent death on
the cross. The Ten Commandments were written by God himself on stone tablets. They were presented to Moses on Mount Sanai.
The Ten Commandments expressly forbid such acts as murder, adultery, theft, coveting, bearing false witness, taking Gods name in vain, the worship of a graven image, worshipping another god.
The Ten Commandments expressly direct us to believe in God, to keep the Sabbath holy, and to honor our mother and father.
