The concept of the risen god can be found in earlier Greek and Persian religions (Hooker, 1996). The difference with Christianity has to do with Christ rising from the dead in a corporeal manner (Hooker, 1996). Separately, the death of Jesus, the burial of Jesus and the resurrection of Jesus were not unique in terms of leaders who founded churches or religions (Hooker, 1996). Other religious founders had all died but they lived on through their teachings (Peace Portal Alliance Church, 2002). It is the fact of the death plus the burial plus the resurrection that made Christianity unique at that time in history and continues to make it unique today (Hooker, 1996). Paul taught that Christ had risen in corporeal form; this fact made Christianity very unique (Hooker, 1996). Hooker (1996) said: "What was perhaps original about Christianity was its combination of several heterogeneous elements into a single structure; it was continuous with a variety of traditions, philosophies, and religious practices, and synthesized all of these into a new structure." Trying to restore and strengthen their faith, Paul told the church in Corinth: "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). In this letter, Paul was reaffirming the resurrection is an integral part of the Christ event (Peace Portal Alliance Church, 2002).
