data that support specific dietary guidelines, that bring to question the trustworthiness of their data collection processes, and as a result the findings and conclusions they present. In order
to present an accurate view to a holistic nutrition class, it is necessary to consider some of the issues in The China Study that bring into question the credibility of
the study itself. The China Study is the basis for a considerable number of nutrition courses that focus on the integration of healthy eating principles and maintain the
benefits of vegetarianism. The central points that should be identified in a holistic nutrition class include the Eight Principles of Food and Health, which define the benefits of healthy
eating and the physiological impacts of improved dietary choices. These eight principles include guidelines for improving the quality of food that is consumed, as well as methods for improving
health through reducing exposure to chemicals in food. These assertions are based on the belief that improvements in the way "we feed ourselves, the way we think about health
and the way we perceive the world" can be instrumental in treating sickness. In order to address the adequacy of The China Study as a basis for nutritional
education, though, it is important to understand that there is some apparent issues in the methods for defining both the principles outlined and the research used to support those principles.
