normalcy. People who live in the U.S., the nation waging the war, continue to go about their business as normal. With the exception of families who have relatives at war,
there is little that changes. People watch the events on television, but their lives are the same and people complain when it takes too long to get on an airplane
or if their privacy is compromised. They do not want to give up comfort or sacrifice privacy to win the war. During World WAr II, a very different kind
of war was fought. There was the Japanese Internment where people who were of Japanese descent were forced into family camps. These camps were not brutal, but nevertheless, families were
not free. What was perhaps more difficult than that was the separation of children from their families as they were evacuated from countries like Britain, Ireland and Australia as World
War II began. Their stories are heart wrenching. They tell a tale that suggests life will never be the same for them, and they contribute something to the fabric of
society. The nuclear family paradigm would come second to peace and survival. Indeed, W.W.II was about survival and the people understood that the sacrifices were necessary. While the events changed
things sociologically as people lived quite differently than they were used to and new norms would be put into place, it changed the lives of the children forever. It is
well known in psychology that things occurring in childhood does have a long term effect on life. Thus, children who were separated from their parents at early ages may have
been psychologically harmed. Yet, the evidence seemingly does not support the notion that these children were significantly altered in a negative way. They survived and would thrive and would look
