even recommend its use. The problem of disciplining students has become so great that some students are deemed to have a disorder called ADD and given drugs to quell
them. But the behavior disorders are just symptoms of the underlying problem of greater social change. Other aspects of school involvement that has
only come since the deterioration of the family concerns a greater number of cases of abuse, of drug use and teen pregnancy. The school acts as a moral leader and
sounding board for students. Schools integrate programs such as STARE and DARE and they also counsel students in their personal decisions. Schools have to some degree become parts of the
political landscape as they disseminate lunches and breakfasts free to those whose parents do not province nourishment. It asks children often to write little biographies and essays, and from there,
the schools may find out things about the families that are dysfunctional. If the parent has a drug problem or is abusing the child, and this comes through in an
essay or a complaint by the student, the school is in immediate contact with social services. Looking back decades ago, schools were not proactive in taking care of social problems.
Today, social problems seem to infiltrate the schools and the schools must deal with the remnants of the fractured family. This leads to failure for one reason or another.
