cook, construction worker, etc. " (p. 102). The point made by Navarette is that there are undocumented workers in the country, and they perform services for the "law abiding"
wealthy citizens. Obviously, no one is forcing the immigrants to work. They want to work. The legal issue is simply a fa?ade. It is a way for those who are
anti-immigration to suggest that the immigrants are wrong. Simply stated, what they are doing is illegal so anyone who supports them has to be wrong. Of course, one only has
to look back half a century to see Martin Luther King, Jr. sitting in jail in Birmingham because he broke the law. That was considered civil disobedience, something morally allowed
because it was opposing a law that was unethical. Similarly, immigration law is not ethical. Yes, there are documented workers in the nation, and they receive benefits and do not
have to worry about the law, but a good number of people are not quite as fortunate. It is not all that easy to get the documentation, which is why
