the overturn of Roe and the end to safe, legal abortion. Indeed, it is horrible to think of a baby being sucked out of a mothers birth canal and actually killed. Yet, the babies that are murdered through what some call "partial birth" abortion is not the abortion that say, Roe, wanted to have. Rather, the type of abortion that most women seek is one where a pregnancy is terminated at the early stages of life, before the fetus is viable. At the early stages of pregnancy, the fetus is barely recognizable and is little more than a cluster of cells. This type of abortion is quite common. In the United States alone, there are approximately 1.3 million abortions performed each year ("When does," 2003). In a free society, people have free will. That is , when they go to the grocery store they can buy vanilla or chocolate ice-cream, or they can gorge themselves on high fat fare or instead just eat carrot sticks. No one tells them what they must do with their bodies. Abortion, as those who are against the practice claim, is not about individual rights. It is about the rights of the unborn. To many who are not right to lifers, the idea that someone is not born would immediately prompt the idea that the individual is not a person. If someone had not been born, then what right do they have? In most cases, these cell clusters that those on the right call babies or human beings or children, are really nothing more than cell clusters. Most people are aware of how a baby develops.
