organization. About the organization, President Carter said: " Habitat is an organization that builds homes working side by side in partnership with the poor who have never known adequate shelter,
not with a sense of charity or arrogance or superiority, but with a sense of sharing on an equal basis the dreams for a better life for us all" (Carter,
2001). The Carters involvement in the project is exemplary. They give of their time without any expectation of anything in return, nor do they take a superior attitude. According to
what Austin (2000) calls the seven Cs of collaboration-connection, clarity of purpose, congruency of mission, creation of value, communication between partners, continual learning and commitment-it seems as if the Carters
have embraced those elements. When participating in an organization like Habitat for Humanity, people do make a connection to purpose where they feel as if they have a purpose in
life. Above all, they are driven by the desire to help people. In fact, Carter (1993) explains the following on National Public Radio: " Another thing is that some of
the projects that we undertake now, either in the Carter Center or through the Habitat for Humanity of Homebuilding with poor people, are very attractive sorts of projects and although
I dont think my own character has changed, and my emphasis and priorities in life havent changed, I think people now understand clearer why I did certain things when I
