planet due to the oxygen these forests produce. The following paper examines the Brazilian rainforest and what is problematic about the forest there today. The paper also examines what is
being done to change the present conditions and what is being done to support further growth and sustenance of the Brazilian rainforest. Brazilian Rainforest: Problems
In most cases, if not all, the problems with the Brazilian rainforest can be traced to deforestation. The forest is seen as beneficial for many reasons,
reasons associated with making money and destroying the land. There are those who cut down trees for logging and special interests that desire specific rare woods. Deforestation is caused because
there is cattle production and the land is required to meet those demands. Through deforestation animals are threatened and killed, leading to many becoming endangered or extinct. Through deforestation mining
takes place and the environment is forever scared as well as poisoned with mercury. Valuable plants are ignorantly destroyed, plants that could prove incredibly beneficial to the sustenance of tribes
as well as medical research. In essence, all problems with the rainforests can ultimately be traced to deforestation. Two of the most powerfully
destructive aspects of deforestation are that of cattle grazing and logging. In relationship to cattle it appears as though this is currently causing more damage than logging, which was considered
the most damaging endeavor to the Brazilian rainforest: "World demand for Brazilian beef is soaring, as consumers see it as a cheap, disease-free alternative to mad cows and flu-ridden poultry.
