more shock into our living rooms as we followed the story of the gunman shooting up a Jewish Preschool. Tears of rage filled our eyes as we saw camera shots
of chubby armed children racing for their lives being guided by heavily armed S.W.A.T. team members. The public cry for gun control has grown louder with each passing tragedy,
but gun control is by no means a new or recent issue for this country. Gun control has always been discussed and when former politician James Brady was shot in
the head during an assignation attempt on then President Ronald Reagan, the topic took on a life of its own. Following the shooting of Brady
there was public outcry and demand to get a better handle on who purchases guns. The Brady Bill took off with full steam and gained popularity as it progressed. During
its inception, its passage and its subsequent use the N.R.A. (National Rifle Association) worked hard to counter act the effects that the bill would have on its members. In addition
the N.R.A. worked hard to continue its membership drives. Following the passage of the Brady bill which mandates a "cooling off" period between the
time one decides to purchase a gun and the time one can take possession of the gun the N.R.A. pulled out all the stops in an effort to increase and
continue membership drives. In 1995 it launched an attack on the press and some of the politicians who opposed its ideals, efforts and foundations(Larson,
1995). It was a huge open house bash in a $15 million Fairfax, VA headquarters that was being unveiled during the gala(Larson, 1995). According the N.R.A. at the time
