revolutionary war, of course, finally led to the Declaration of Independence - the very foundation of our country today and upon which all of our freedoms are based.
It is these very men then, who may have been responsible for creating the country in which we now live. Had they not opposed British rule or chosen to
do nothing about it, we may still be under that rule today. These men were visionaries, and indeed worthy of their place in history. Prelude to the Tea
Party The Boston Tea Party was the result of a relatively small number of "patriots" keeping alive the controversy over the tea
tax (U.S. Information Service, 1991). "As long as the tea tax remained, they contended, the principle of Parliaments right over the colonies remained" (U.S. Information Service, 1991). They
argued that sometime in the future the "principle might be applied in full with devastating effect on colonial liberties" (U.S. Information Service, 1991). The "slogan" of the American Revolution
was "No taxation without representation" (A Brief History of Tax, 2000). The leader of the patriots was Samuel Adams who hailed from Massachusetts and was a Harvard University graduate (U.S.
Information Service, 1991). He was tireless in his work toward independence (U.S. Information Service, 1991). "A consistent failure in business, he was shrewd and able in politics, with
