disobedience, is a question that includes a range of potential perspectives. Specifically, the views of the Black Power Movement from the perspective of Black citizens may have been very
different than the views of politicians or even average White Americans. Similarly, the mass media took a number of different views of Martin Luther King, Jr., his actions and
his rallying of individuals into acts of civil disobedience. The question posed, then, implies that different views dominated social responses to both factions during the 1950s and 1960s, which
may have influenced their impacts on the civil rights movement. Balancing a variety of different viewpoints is an essential challenge related to this question. The research process,
then, requires the integration of primary source information, including the reflections of leaders in the Black Power Movement and in civil disobedience, including views of men like Stokely Carmichael, Malcolm
X and Martin Luther King, Jr. Primary source information from other authors during this time period were difficult to locate and to identify in relation to the central
theme of the research. 2. How would they have been dealt with? Fine tuning the research question into a research hypothesis was a necessary part
