may be either losses or gains. Stress has been shown to disrupt the metabolism, either speeding it up or slowing it down. Stress
can also result in back pain, this is partly due to the manner and demeanour of a stressed individual as well as the different physiological effects that may be noticed
in a stressed individual. All for these may be seen stemming from the mental condition, but all have physiological reactions and as
such there may be an adverse reaction in the body (Lozada, 2000). If we look at the body and consider the influences that
stress has on the body then it can also be understood why other chemicals introduced into the body may have a reaction, either as a preventative or as an alleviation.
Where there is a high level of stress there will often be a link to a mild or more severe depression. In these cases there are some very strong
physiological changes observed in the body. The biochemical findings are recognised by an increased level cortisol (Anonymous, 2001). The problem arises
when the stress is caused by an event or by circumstances that are out of the control of the individual as this results in the failure of the closed loop
