For example, they may say that the telephone was the greatest invention, or that cars or computers were the greatest invention. People have different reasons for thinking one invention or
another is the greatest of the 20th century. Some may argue that one was the greatest because it allowed many other beneficial inventions to be designed. And, still others may
take a more personal approach to considering the best invention of the 20th century. If an individual truly feels that a health device, such as the porto cath, is
the greatest invention of the 20th century, due to the fact that it allowed their family member to survive and live a longer and healthier life, then it is important
that the argument for the device being the best invention of the 20th century take on a personal and perhaps emotional argument. This is because, when arguing, one must understand
that there are other sides to an argument. In the case of the porto cath this invention would not have been possible without many other medical inventions as well. As
such it is important to make the argument, the thesis, focus on the personal and emotional, conditions which cannot be readily argued against. This particular student indicates that two family
members who experienced cancer. One, the elder, did not have the option to receive a port cath due to their non-existence. The mother, however, was given a new lease on
life because of the invention. From this perspective one must argue that the precious and useful life of the grandmother was forever gone due to the non-existent state of the
