born and bred, to a state of affluence and some degree of reputation in the world, and having gone so far through life with a considerable share of felicity, the
conducing means I made use of, which with the blessing of God so well succeeded, my posterity may like to know, as they may find some of them suitable to
their own situations, and therefore fit to be imitated (Franklin, 1996). Franklin (1996) addressed the challenge of leadership simply by being
himself and putting forth the same approach he expected to receive in return. One of the most important issues to Franklin (1996) was for everyone to pull his or
her weight as Americans rather than depend upon others for their own - and the nations - survival. The Industrial Era is a pertinent example of Franklins (1996) fundamental
attitude for meeting a challenge. Hard work, he contended, was the lifeblood of every good and decent American; as such, he led this leadership philosophy by living through example.
However, the tradition of hard work was one concept that had somewhat of a falling out in relation to its steadfastness of pre-industrialism. Indeed, the path from apprentice
