book is therefore very important because it reflects upon the notoriety of this book of the Bible. According to the book
of Revelations, the author is John the apostle (Revelation: Authorship and Date, 2004). In fact, Revelations 22:9 specifically states that the author John is a prophet (Revelation:
Authorship and Date, 2004). Therefore, Christians have historically attributed the writing of Revelations to John (Revelation: Authorship and Date, 2004). This sentiment has been echoed in the
opinions of many notable Christians throughout history, who have come to make the same determination (Revelation: Authorship and Date, 2004). Examples of such notable authorities making the same
claim include Melito Hipplytus, Tertullian, Clement of Alexandria and Origen (Revelation: Authorship and Date, 2004). According to the book of
Revelations, the book is based upon the "revelation of Jesus Christ" that was sent by an angel to John, who writes to seven churches about the coming time of judgment
