that Lincoln died several hours after the event. The following paper examines plans of Lincolns assassination and the assassination and death. The Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln
The man who is infamous for having killed Abraham Lincoln is John Wiles Booth. He was a well known actor and came from a
family of actors. Many would have perhaps argued that had he not become the assassin of Lincoln he would have gone on to have great fame in the theater. However,
he was a man who became a sympathizer with the South, although he was not a Southerner. He, along with several other men, became more and more irate and disgruntled
with the conditions existing for the South during the Civil War and made plans to do something about it. Booth, along with
some other men, Lewis Powell, George Atzerodt, and David Herold were ultimately involved in the final plans. However, previous plans had apparently been in play before the end of the
Civil War. It was originally planned that Lincoln would be kidnapped and used for ransom to set Confederate soldiers free so that the South would have a better chance of
winning the war. However, attempts failed and then the South gave up, surrendering to the North. A couple of days after the surrender
Lincoln apparently gave a speech wherein Booth attended. Apparently one of the things that Lincoln said in this speech involved allowing blacks to vote and "Infuriated, Booths plans now turned
