is the human mind. That probably became the case shortly after man thought he had conquered fire, rather than conquered space. Art has always played a part in
that exploration. This discussion will examine the role of Art in the exploration of the psyche for Freud, Jung and Hegel. Thesis: The conceptual process of art has
had many labels over time, yet most often in a manifestation of problem solving for the individual. Freud (1856-1939) In the last few years Frueds theories have fallen into disfavor
due to their overt and singular sexual emphasis. Freuds basic idea was that "all humans are endowed with an unconscious in which potent sexual and aggressive drives, and defenses
against them, struggle for supremacy." Freud once stated: "The only unnatural sexual behavior is none at all." Although it is often thought that Freud gave label to the "unconscious mind,"
but even the poetry of Homer speaks of those unknown part of man that are intrinsic in his soul. Freud definitely paid attention to the unconscious and the dreams that
it sent to the surface of the individual dreamer. He thought many of those dreams were expressions of trauma, and that often that trauma had a sexual basis.
