paper discusses some of the aspects of three films, Dances with Wolves, The Color Purple, and Cold Mountain. Discussion Making a film is a hugely complex process involving producers, directors,
actors, musicians, set designers, sound and lighting experts, costume designers and myriads of other experts. A production company is formed for every film and although it may exist for only
a matter of months, it is every bit as challenging to run such an organization as it is to run a Fortune 500 company. This paper is too short to
analyze these films in detail-entire books are written dealing with one film only-but it can take a look at a broad overview of the films, and some of the facets
of each. To begin, lets discuss briefly what it is we see on the screen. When we go to a movie, were going to see the directors vision of the
subject he has chosen to film. Everything else is secondary to this. The choice of the actors, the music, the locations, the sound, the color palette, the costumes; all of
these come together to produce the picture that the director wants us to see. This is why its easy to spot certain directors like Hitchcock and Spielberg-their directorial style is
so distinctive we know who made the movie simply by looking at it. Perhaps the first question then should be, why did directors choose to make these films? What is
