this matter and what you are left with is a mass of confusion. Yet, despite all of this confusion, it is important to remember that while there are certainly
various appropriate methods of discipline from which to choose, corporal punishment is never an effective option as this poses more threat to the child, both short and long term, than
does the action for which it is being used. In fact, spanking is becoming less and less acceptable in this society as information
continues to be disseminated on the ill-effects of spanking in terms of its use as a disciplinary measure. In Canada, there are even rules which are concerned with this.
Canada is host to a program called Nobodys Perfect, which is a program designed to teach new parents parenting skills (Leishman, 2002). They says that, "no No matter
how angry you are, its never OK to spank children" (Leishman, 2002). Their philosophy is that spanking doesnt work (Leishman, 2002). Despite the clear evidence which exists on this
topic, there are still many parents and adults in this society who believe that corporal punishment is not only tolerable, but that it is indeed an acceptable for of discipline.
They believe that spanking is effective in terms of teaching a child a particular message despite evidence to the contrary. It is important to reach this group of
