the style of Apollodorus. The Architectural Importance of Apollodorus of Damascus As mentioned, Apollodorus is associated with one of the greatest emperors of Rome. That emperor was Trajan.
He was apparently both a very good friend of Trajan, as well as his personal architect (Calcani; Abdulkarim 35). This had to be of crucial importance to the work and
the notoriety of Apollodorus, especially in light of the successes of Trajan. In fact, it seems that much of what is written about Apollodorus also discusses Trajan, which indicates they
were very much a team in many ways. One of the most important elements of the work of Apollodorus involves the fact that his style was very urban for
the times, and also very reflective of the style of the time. One can see some of this perspective in the following: "Apollodorus was summoned to Rome not long
after his twentieth birthday. Here he designed works that still characterize the urban plan of the citys old centre. In the complex of Markets and the Forum, built to celebrate
