to be considered when detaining the correct strategic human resource management theory in this industry. To look at this we need to make several assumptions. For any firm in
the international hospitality industry to be successful there needs to be a profit created on a consentient basis, without this the firm would not be able to survive. For this
to be realised there need to be effective and efficient working practices. However there is also the need for a customer centric approach for all staff in order to satisfy
and exceed customer expectations to attract and then retain custom. This approach needs to be seen both the front and back of operations staff as they are all involved in
presenting the end product; a service. There are two main approaches to human resource management; scientific management and the human relations school. Of we consider the hospitality industry then
the good will of the employees is reflected in their attitude towards the job. In all jobs attitude is an important element but in the service industry as it reflects
on the quality of service received by the guests (Lucas , 2004, Korcynski, 2002). However, in many recruitment and training strategies the reflecting of this need is not seen, with
the industry doing little to promote commitment (McGunnigle et al, 2000). Scientific management theory does have a place in the modern world.
