achieving objective, credible results? Peter Park (1993) for example looks at participatory research and to some extent, has a political agenda. At least, much of the material focuses on how
people can change and a great deal of his information is derived through the methodology of participatory research. Of course, this is accepted methodology in anthropology for example, when it
is very difficult to derive information from outside of communities. In order to get true readings on indigenous communities for example, social scientists must be in their midst for a
time. At the same time, such research is replete with problems of objectivity and here, one sees that while Park has a point, there are certainly those difficulties when it
comes to objectivity. Participatory research may be used in a variety of disciplines. In focusing on just one, it does seem that the research method described would certainly
support social change in education. Today, educational organizations are fraught with incompetence and although education has come a long way since the corrupt administrations of 110 Livingston Street in
Brooklyn, for example, there is a great deal of problems in education that persist. Barring corruption and things of that nature, there are legitimate issues in teaching strategy and the
fact that the education system is not working and few know why. While vouchers are the answer for some, it points to the real problem which is that public education
is in trouble. Of course, the problems of education may not be completely resolved through participatory research, but certainly it could help to open up the dilemmas that educational institutions
face today. In other words, participatory research may yield results that are unique, based on the fact that an individual is seeing things from a new perspective. While there is
