John McCain who said he would continue the war was also criticized. But it is not necessarily the case that the United States was peaceful for many generations but only
decided to wage war at the beginning of the twenty-first century. War is entrenched in American history. Jarecki (2008) makes this clear in this book entitled The American Way of
War. Jareckis (2008) book commences with a quote from George W. Bush. The author then goes into specific stories about war, something that is delivered with dedicated and flowery
prose. Jarecki (2008) writes: "At 5:10 a.m., an F-117 Stealth Nighthawk banked silently through the first rays of sunrise. Inside the cockpit, the pilot noticed the stars and moon still
shining on the Tigris below" (p. 7). The rest of the chapter observes the unfolding of the war as the writer argues that the things relayed are events that will
be "tales for their grandchildren" (p. 8). Yet, it should be said that while the book does point out the continuity of war-it has always exited in America-he also points
out the many changes that the nation has gone through. Indeed, the nation has changed since the American Revolution was fought during the eighteenth century. The Bush Doctrine is discussed
and the author goes on to explain that it is something that would come about in recent times, but the author goes into history as well. That is, Jarecki (2008)
claims that when the Soviet Union was disbanded, many people saw it as an opportunity for peace, but some men like Dick Cheney did not have that point of view.
