Also discussed are policy issues in the region that affect the industry. Specific marketing techniques are evaluated in respect to each airline. Why some of the airlines are more successful are explored in terms of policy issues and marketing. An addendum provides a discussion on how the paper was completed. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

globe. People were afraid of becoming infected and canceled trips to Asia. New regulations made flights more difficult. This situation took its toll on an already struggling economy. Although Asia
is okay now, the fall of the baht during the 1990s put pressure on the region and so macroeconomic variables are certainly relevant when exploring this sector. Airlines are the
lifeblood of any economy, at least as it respects transportation. Air travel is relatively new and innovative and many depend on it for business and pleasure. The old expression of
taking a "slow boat to China" is unheard of now with jet travel, but it was something that people relied upon in the past. However, while air travel is easy
today, it is also expensive. While that is the case, air travel expense can be mitigated. Even today, domestic flights in the U.S. are a mere pittance when it comes
to popular destinations. However, flying overseas to Malaysia for instance can cost as much as ten thousand dollars. The airline industry is an important topic when reviewing any region.
Airlines are again, an important part of the transportation sector and something to be treated with kid gloves. Regulation and deregulation, as well as other policy issues prompted by the
government, are clearly relevant. In reviewing Singapore International Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Garuda Indonesian Airlines, which are a few of the major airlines in Southeast Asia, it is important
