- June, 2001 For More Information On This Paper Please When the devout Christian speaks about the resurrection of Jesus Christ he is undoubtedly referring to specific
events and an overall promise inherent in this doctrine. In essence, after Christs crucifixion on the cross He died - as any mortal man would. However, His spirit
(the ethereal portion responsible for animating His corporeal form from birth until His death on the cross), soon re-claimed/ reactivated His body and His rising from the dead constitutes the
actual resurrection event. (Christs arising from the tomb an immortal soul evidenced this re-uniting of His spirit and physical bodies.) In addition, the prevalent Christian belief is
that Jesus not only conquered death for Himself and brought forth His own glorious return to life, but that in so doing He also brought about the promise of universal
resurrection in the form of the afterlife. This was the end purpose of His mission on Earth for which He was the chosen Savior and Redeemer (The Resurrection of
Jesus Christ, 2001 and See Also Badham, 1976). Innumerable disparate bodies of evidence and divergent theories exist, and are ascribed to as proof
of the existence of an afterlife. Apparently, many people -- theologians, sleep therapists, research scientists, scholars, laymen and the like (to name a few) have given an abundance of
