the past decade or more. It is a tool that is utilized by many nations for a variety of reasons. One country that has been greatly affected by the Internet
is Kenya. The following paper examines the impact that the Internet has had, and is having, on Kenya. The Affect of the Internet on Kenya While it can
be assumed that the Internet has affected, for the good, the lives of many average individuals in Kenya this focus will primarily be on industries, institutions, and how they are
affected, again for the good, by the Internet. And, it should perhaps also be understood that the cost of the Internet plays a large role in the impact the Internet
has upon the individual. One author notes that, "Price was always the key issue, and the cost to consumers of internet services has not noticeably changed" (OfficialSpin, 2010). It appears
as though the industries and institutions that are benefiting from the Internet are doing do despite the costs as there is a sense of communal use of the Internet.
One such industry that is applicable to his perspective is the health industry. One author notes that Dr Hilary Rono has found "The
Internet has been key to his studies, especially the Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI)" (Osanjo, 2006; 691). This is a program created by WHO. It is a program
that gives such individuals "free online access to 3300 scientific journals...gives researchers like Rono access to the most up-to-date information for research, but also information that can be used to
improve clinical management of patients" (Osanjo, 2006; 691). Prior to this a doctor would have to locate a library and find information, information that was generally very old and outdated.
