throughout the world and in the United States. This is quite a new turn as while perhaps thirty years ago very small cars were in demand, today people are trudging
around in huge SUVs and the now street legal Hummer that resembles a tank. One can imagine such an automobile flattening a tiny little car in a cartoon. But in
reality, the tiny cars share the road with the large vehicles and many people feel safe in the larger modes of transportation. Hence, there are fewer Mini Coopers on the
road than there are Honda Pilots. There is something to the idea that bigger is better. After all, there is more metal surrounding the passengers and driver. At the
same time, the SUVs do have a rollover risk that the tiny sports car simply does not share. In some ways, the larger vehicles offer more protection. However, because they
are on the road, it is sometimes difficult for other drivers to see past them. Still, the Mini Cooper is appealing and many people vie for the little automobile that
comes in a variety of attractive styles. Other reasons for the lure of the mini car go to price. Yes, mini and smart cars do have excellent attributes as they
are good on gas, inexpensive and adorable. That said, there has been some concern about safety and smart cars, scheduled to hit the U.S. in 2005 has been delayed. While
the mini and smart cars have its share of problems, which includes convincing a public that loves their recreational vehicles to go smaller, they are marketed to some extent by
embracing the notion that they are different. Indeed, they are. The smart cars are especially small and futuristic looking. The mini cars, and particularly the Mini Cooper is quite distinct.
