between training for catastrophic responses, including both the development of operational system and the educational orientation of training, as compared to intervention plans for multivictim situations.
One of the most important aspects of this question, then, is if existing programs and educational operations are adequate in light of the possible threat of international
terrorism as well as the constant threat posed by chemical, environmental and physical emergencies. The past decade has been marked by a sharp increase in the number of physical
tragedies that have included multiple victim response scenarios, and the rise in large-scale catastrophes in recent years has also influenced assessments of educational adequacy. This research study relates the findings
in the current literature regarding issues like catastrophic response scenarios, education, and training in Europe and the approaches to response to multivictim emergencies. An important element of this study is
the assessment of the adequacy of existing operational scenarios, especially as related in the current literature. In addition, this study also attempts to answer the question of why these
programs have changed in recent years and whether important events, including the events surrounding the September 11 bombing of the World Trade Center Towers in New York City, have influenced
