He was a man who seemed destined for film and for martial arts. As an infant he began an acting career and later learned many different fighting styles. He was
many things, not the least of which a man who opened the door to Kung Fu type films that would entertain generations to come. The following paper examines the work
of Bruce Lee and his ability to make powerful films that may not be on a par with "Citizen Kane" but nonetheless were incredibly influential because of Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee In understanding something of how Bruce Lee offered himself as a powerful film force we first look at some of his history as it involved his martial
arts skills. While Bruce Lee spent a great deal of his youth in Hong Kong, as an adult he started a martial arts school in the United States. He was
challenged by a local teacher who felt that Bruce Lee was wrong for teaching westerners the ancient art. Bruce won this challenge and his fame began to rise. However, it
was also during this challenge that Bruce Lee apparently felt that another form of martial arts was necessary, one that was not so slow. He began work on this particular
style, but did not really have the time to focus on its development until he suffered from a back injury and spent numerous months in rehabilitation. The style was named
Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Gung Fu and Bruce Lee never really thought of it as a style, perse, but rather a form of self defense that was quicker and
to the point (UK Kung Fu, 2004). In his films there is a certain amount of this particular style that is quit prevelant however, "in a real life
