of factors in todays world. Some children, however, are more at risk than are others. For some children violence is more of a concern than for others.
Even schools do not always offer a safe harbor from the long arm of violence. Psychologically disturbed children have turned guns, and in one case even bombs, against their
friends and teachers changing the way the community and indeed the world would view one of the most basic community functions, education of its children. Our children are threatened
on other fronts as well, however. The progressively younger age that our children turn to sex as a release for their everyday tensions is another example of a very
real threat, a threat that can have long term consequences. So too can drugs have long term consequences for our nations children. One particularly common element that seems
at play in defining at risk children in terms of these threats is abuse. There are then several threats that we face in
our modern world in terms of the health and welfare of our children. It becomes obvious just in looking at the degree of violence among todays adolescents that something
has gone terribly wrong in American society. What has gone wrong has been the perpetual decline in the nations traditional morals. Given the sad state of this countrys
and indeed the worlds morals it is not surprising that a phenomenal number of todays young people consider sex as a necessary aspect of their lives. Pre-marital sex in
general and promiscuity in particular can lead to a number of problems for adolescents. These problems include the obvious such as teen pregnancy and contraction of sexually transmitted diseases
