following paper offers up a review/reaction to the film produced in 1968. The paper essentially discusses why a viewer may enjoy the movie. The 1968 Film Romeo and
Juliet While there have been other film versions of Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet this is likely to be considered the best one. It is not a film that sticks to
the Shakespearean language and this seems to make it far more accessible and enjoyable because there is not the general struggle to understand the language being used. Shakespeares language is
a language of the past and while there are numerous great plays and films that use his language it is sometimes difficult to get past and thus truly understand the
movie or production. In this production, however, the language is very easy to understand as much of it is modern English, or a close proximity to the language spoken today.
The costumes in this movie are very colorful and yet also not overdone or as cheap looking as one may find in many older films. They are rather straightforward
without being overly garish and they appear to be relatively true to the historical time period. These elements, which are related to the simple, and often subconscious, visuals make the
movie work as well. Sometimes one can watch a film and the costuming is so ridiculous that the viewer cannot get passed that presentation. This is not the case with
this film. The background of the film is simply glorious. It was filmed on location in Italy, not something often done in films over 50 years ago. As such
