based on his first 100 days is unfair and likely to be uninformative. At this point in his Presidency, Americans know little about him except that he works hard and
is determined to reach out to those who oppose him. His success or lack of it will have to be rendered by history. One thing should be noted, however: the
Republican Party, which apparently failed to get the memo from the American people last November, has decided that it will close ranks and oppose absolutely anything Obama tries to do.
Whether they are opposing him because hes a Democrat, a liberal or a black is uncertain; what is clear is that they will not cooperate on any issue. Not
surprisingly, their vehement opposition, exemplified by Rush Limbaughs comment "I hope he fails" has galvanized Obamas supporters into working as hard as they can to support him and his policies
while the Republicans launch attack after attack against him. With that in mind, its hard to find a neutral source. But one thing the research has revealed is that Obama
is consistently compared to FDR. They both came to office in the midst of a terrible crisis, and they both instituted exceptional plans to try and deal with the problems.
When Roosevelt was elected in 1933, the country was in the third year of the Great Depression, and he knew dramatic action was needed, so he promised "100 days of
action, a promise that has become a kind of informal measure of every president since."1 No one, not even Obama, has matched FDRs accomplishments, despite the fact that he has
