men who are growing up and finding their identity, for good or bad. It is a story of youth and a story about coming of age in tumultuous times for
the young men. It is a powerful story of hope and love and integrity and despair. The novel portrays these two young men, Byron and Mark, two young men
who are essentially foster brothers. This sets the stage for knowing that the boys come from a troubled past and yet they find solace and understanding in one another. They
are very close until they begin to grow up in their formidable years as teenagers. This is the time when they are perhaps given choices that only come once in
the search for their identity, in their coming of age. As the story progresses Byron slowly drifts away from Mark because Mark is too involved in drugs and a wild
life that is pulling him down in a very negative manner. The story shows how Byron comes of age in a very wise manner where Mark falls deeper and deeper
into darkness. As mentioned, this story is very much a coming of age story. That is where the primary theme lays in this book as Byron must struggle with
the love he has for his foster brother and the path he must choose, even if that path means turning his brother in for doing drugs. He is struggling with
his own identity, his ideals concerning right and wrong, and his choices in relationship to where his future will take him. As he is growing he is becoming more and
