planes went down. The planes took off from Boston and so those in that area had to wonder how terrorists could get through their check points. The planes were
headed towards California and so relatives of the crash victims on the left coast were also devastated. For a long time, the nation was in shock. George Bush led the
country out of its funk where after a couple of days, he visited New York City and pledged to get the terrorists as well as the countries that harbor them.
He did. And while Osama bin Laden is still at large, the Taliban has been destroyed and Afghanistan is led by a new regime. A subsequent war in Iraq is
also an action that fulfills the presidents promise. To some extent, the war has been a success, but it is also a stressful time for Americans. September 11th is one
of those days that will live in infamy. It is a day where people remember where they were when "it" happened, and since that day, life has been different for
all Americans. September 11, 2001 was a horrific day for the world. Yet, while it is true that little else went on or was considered newsworthy--it blew the Gary Condit
scandal off the map--the media coverage was unrelenting. It went on for days and culminated that Friday with a candlelight vigil throughout the nation. In some ways, the coverage assisted
law enforcement. It informed the people. They were to be wary of strangers. They were to look out for bags and potential bombs and anything they might have overheard
that seems suspicious. The media coverage to an extent did assist the police and the FBI, but it also might have unwittingly assisted the terrorists. Every move was covered. The
