topic. Terrorism was going on long before the United States was attacked, but it seems to have taken the attack to get the attention of the power that is Americas
and thus brought about many more conferences and studies of terrorism itself. Most people associate terrorism with the Third World, and in light of this assumption the following paper focuses
on the Third World, examining the causes of terrorism in the Third World and then presenting possible solutions. Causes As is the case with almost any particular subject,
especially a subject that is considered a problem, there are many possible causes and the true cause cannot perhaps really be found in light of the fact that many different
elements or truths go into the development of any particular problem. This section will, therefore, only focus on causes that are presented by two different authors. Shane (2005) focuses
on the work of Pervaiz Lodhie who is a business executive involved in Pakistani-American relations, and also an individual who is apparently very involved with grass roots efforts to change
things like terrorism. Shane (2005) states that Lodhie argues poverty is one of the primary causes of terrorism. "He believes that extremists in any religion or organization draw followers from
the impoverished" (Shane, 2005). These people have little choice to but to look for an answer to their problem of impoverishment and they see that terrorism may provide them with
some power, as well as perhaps necessary food (Shane, 2005). On the other side of the issue we have those who argue that Third World terrorism is actually
