a fear of unprecedented explosions and biological warfare. There has not been a time in history when this fear was so pronounced. Many compare it to D-Day, but after D-Day,
things improved. After September 11th, there was a sense that things would never be the same. Of course, each incident had left its mark on America in its own way.
After September 11, 2001, George W. Bush would announce to the world that the people who took down the buildings would be hearing "us" soon. By "us," George W.
meant that the people in countries that harbor terrorists would see and hear soldiers invade. They would hear the marching of soldiers on their turf. He made good on that
promise. Aside from the war on terrorism, there has been unprecedented attention to security within the United States itself. Since 9/11, Homeland Security has implemented measures to render the United
States a safer place to live. Cleary, some protocols can be implemented in order to protect buildings. For example, in New York City, when one enters many buildings they may
be asked for identification or to go through a bag check. This does not occur as frequently as it had shortly after the attack, but security is tighter than it
was decades ago. Clearly, some security measures can be implemented to help establish safe facilities that may be targeted at some point. Obviously, airport security had been beefed up,
but many complain that it has become lax once again. In fact, recently, rules have been changed to allow small knives on board. When interviewed not too long ago, former
Governor Thomas Kean remarked on NPR radio: " Its scandalous that airline passengers are still not screened against all names on a terrorist watch list. It is scandalous that we
