act as a barrier that declare this territory belongs to someone. Each species behaves according to the social rules for that species. Humans, for instance, behave according to social norms,
which also govern what humans can and cannot do in terms of claiming their own territory. The benefits of human territoriality are many but the core benefit is a
sense of safety and security. The territory provides the human with a stable environment where they know who will be there and what to expect. These boundaries can help avert
conflict (Leig, 2011). Territoriality helps to provide social order. Rather than everyone walking across all the lawns and ruining gardens on a street, social norms dictate that people walk on
the sidewalk so as not to destroys someones property (Leig, 2011). One of the dangers of excessive territoriality is something that is evidenced among gangs. They have turf and
