as East London and Canary Wharf, Abbots Wharf, Tequila Wharf and Langdon Park (Wright Investors Service, 2006). The company works alone and with strategic alliances with housing associations (Telford Homes,
2005, 2006). If we look at the strategy we may argue there is both a planned and also an emergent strategy with the company constantly looking for new opportunities
that present themselves in order to create value (Thompson, 2005, Mintzberg et al, 2003). The emergent strategy can be seen with the edge city developments. The company has identified a
new potential market that had been hidden (Thomson Curry, 2006). These are not the city centre developments that the company had been
focusing on previously, but developments in areas where many of the workers who are in the city supply sector live (Thomson Curry, 2006). These are areas that are on the
fringes of the city where workers will travel to and from work but live further out to reduce the cost of living. An example of a scheme such as
this is De Beauvoir located in the N1 post code area of London. The development was within the usual strategy, as it was the redevelopment of a Victorian school into
both converted and new apartments (Thomson Curry, 2006). Another example is the "Estilo" development located on Wenlock Road (Thomson Curry, 2006). With the identification of a potential market area
